About Pink Springs
Our Mission Statement
Pink Springs was founded with the mission to educate Pecos County residents on the critical importance of early breast cancer detection. Breast cancer impacts 1 in 8 women, making awareness and proactive health measures essential to saving lives.
In Pecos County, based on the 2023 census data from the U.S. Census Bureau, women represented approximately 42.8% of the population. This equates to about 6,258 women living in the county, and statistically, 782 of these women could be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
Despite the growing awareness of breast cancer, many women in rural areas like Pecos County face barriers to early detection and timely treatment. These barriers often include limited access to healthcare services, lack of education about the disease, and cultural or logistical challenges.
Our program focuses on three primary goals: raising awareness about the importance of early detection, providing access to breast cancer screenings, and supporting those affected by the disease. Through a combination of community events, partnerships with local healthcare providers, and advocacy from breast cancer survivors, we unite Pecos County in the fight against breast cancer.
The initiative includes educational and outreach efforts to inform women about breast health, available screenings, and self-examination techniques. We also offer financial assistance for mammograms and related diagnostic services for women who are uninsured or underinsured. In addition, Pink Springs provides emotional and logistical support to those currently battling breast cancer, helping them navigate treatment and connect with vital resources.
Our ultimate goal is to reduce breast cancer disparities in Pecos County. By focusing on early detection, we believe we can significantly improve health outcomes for women in our community and save lives.
With support from our community, Pink Springs will be able to expand its impact by reaching more women in underserved areas of the county. Funds will be used to increase the availability of screenings, conduct additional awareness campaigns, and provide direct support to breast cancer patients and survivors.
Pink Springs is a non profit corporation registered with the State of Texas and exempt under IRS Code (IRC) Section 501(c)(3).
