Kick off your Independence Day with a festive, family-friendly 5K celebrating the birth of our nation and the early settlers of Leon Valley! Enjoy a morning patriotic run through neighborhood streets and along Huebner Creek Hike and Bike. It's a new route! Make plans to enjoy Leon Valley's Star-Spangled Festival & Fireworks Spectacular in the evening.
Wear your red, white & blue – prizes for the best dressed!
Stroller-friendly & dog-friendly route!
Check-In & Start Time
- Check-In: 6:30 – 7:15 a.m.
- Race Start: 7:30 a.m. sharp – No late starts
Start/Finish Line: Shadow Mist Trailhead, 6441 Shadow Mist Road, Leon Valley, TX 78238. Parking onsite.
Entry Fees
- Early Bird through June 13: $30
- Regular June 14 – July 1: $35
- Last Chance July 2 – Race Day: $40
- Children 12 & Under:
- $10 with chip timing (includes t-shirt & finisher medal)
- FREE with a paid adult (no chip, no shirt, includes finisher medal)
Shirts & Medals
All paid registrations completed by June 22 are guaranteed a t-shirt and finisher medal. After that, we’ll do our best, but we can’t guarantee availability.

Beneficiary & Acknowledgements
Proceeds benefit the Leon Valley Historical Society, which is raising funds to restore the Huebner-Onion Homestead & Stagecoach Stop on Bandera Road.

Hola, Parking was great and a few meters from the staging area. The route was perfect, I was able to run most of the course during my warm up run. The route was well marked and well guarded by Leon Valley law enforcement. Also, the course was so very beautiful as it meandered through neighborhoods, recreational areas, Evers Rd, the park, and had an awesome home stretch for the finish back at Northwest Little League. It helped that it wasn't an out-and-back course-it was an overlapped circuit. It was fun to hear the cheers from homeowners watching the race from their front yards. Oh, and the deer along the park portion were awesome to encounter, I counted 12 along the course:) Results were quick and the awards were immediate. One just had to enter the bib number to know the time and updated ranking right away. The good folks at LVHS were unquestionably professional at all stages of putting on this event. From professional photographers to awesome warm up exercises led by Camp Gladiator everything went so very well. My hat goes off to everyone involved in organizing the race and I will definitely recommend it to friends and familia :) Sincerely, Oscar Roberto Castaneda

The was a very well organized, well planned family event. Competitive as well as non-competative runners (me) were welcome, as were dogs and strollers. This is my new Independence Day tradition!
